The William Lang Foundation

Established in 1989, the nonprofit foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of those suffering Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), by providing new PC systems and adaptive peripherals to needy SCI individuals. Foundation resources are also used to fund research and practical therapies toward the cure for SCI.

What We Do

Now, more than ever before, technology allows disabled individuals unprecedented practical and creative opportunities. Today's PC technologies allow for institutionalized, bedridden and mobility challenged individuals to be heard.

Using state-of-the-art voice technologies and other adaptive equipment, the foundation has succeeded in enabling those individuals to go "online". Enabling communication allows for collaboration with other SCI individuals, advocacy groups and medical professionals through faxing, email and chat rooms. E-commerce provides for unlimited products and services choices otherwise unavailable to the SCI individual. To some, a new level of independence can be achieved, providing meaningful employment opportunities. The foundation supplies new PCs and adaptive technologies to qualified needy individuals.

A message from our Founder...

Billy Lang

"The onset of paralysis triggers both physical and emotional upheaval. Coping with the loss of movement and sensation, coupled with being dependent on others for their daily living, is devastating. Adding to these challenges are the enormous expenses incurred, just to provide any kind of quality of life to the afflicted.

Most people, though physically affected by their injuries, rarely have their minds closed or are focused on failure. This is where help is needed. The main goal of the foundation is to return purpose, motivation and an improved quality of life to the paralyzed. We, as caring human beings, can and must provide the tools to help these unfortunates."
